Schaeffler to showcase new chassis and body portfolio

Schaeffler is set to introduce new solutions for steering, damping, braking, and sensors at its Automotive Symposium supplier day in Bühl next month.

In steering, Schaeffler will present rear-wheel steering and steer-by-wire systems with force-feedback actuators, alongside new human-machine interface (HMI) input devices for future vehicle architectures.

Chassis additions include semi-active and active damping technologies that adjust to road conditions in real time, paired with low-friction wheel bearings to support vehicle dynamics and energy efficiency.

“With a view to the mobility transformation, there are huge market potentials for Schaeffler within the Chassis & Body domain,” said Matthias Zink, chief executive of Powertrain & Chassis at Schaeffler.

“Our innovations take comfort, convenience, handling dynamics, and safety to a new level – and create an important building block for autonomous vehicle platforms.”

Vehicle body additions will include keyless vehicle entry, sensor cleaning systems for autonomous driving, and high-performance braking systems designed for extended maintenance intervals and lower particulate emissions.

The portfolio relies on sensor fusion, with data from multiple onboard sensors feeding active damping, automated driving functions, and interior monitoring.
