Motul revamps motorcycle range with new Ngen Core technology
Building on its long-standing pioneering expertise, Motul is once again leading the way with Ngen Core, a new technology using re-refined base oils (RRBO).
Combining high performance and sustainability, Ngen Core technology allows motorcyclists to ride better, with no compromise on performance and less impact on the environment.

“Motul has always evolved with its time. We have built our reputation on our ability to understand, innovate, and support major technological transitions alongside our partners.
“With NGEN Core, we are taking a new step forward: making sustainability a natural dimension of performance.
“This reflects our ambition to combine innovation, responsibility, and technical excellence — values that have defined our identity for more than 170 years,” said Olivier Montange, president of the management board of Motul.
True to its reputation of innovative company, Motul introduced circularity into its product range in 2023 — first in the motorcycle segment with Ngen 5 and Ngen 7, then in the automotive sector with Ngen 6, Ngen 4 and Ngen Hybrid.
Encouraged by the initial results of these products, Motul is strengthening its commitment to sustainable high performance through the Ngen Core technology, to be gradually introduced across Motul’s oil ranges. The first NGEN Core products will be available in the motorcycle range starting in 2026, with MCO 4T lubricants 5100, 5000, and 3000.
“Motul has been a pioneer in the integration of re-refined base oils into its formulations and remains today the only player to implement this approach across all its product lines. With the launch of NGEN Core technology, we reaffirm our role as a trailblazer by making sustainable performance tangible and accessible to all our users,” said Romain Fabre, chief marketing officer at Motul.
The oils used in Ngen Core formulations are derived from premium used oils, re-refined through processes such as hydrotreatment and vacuum distillation. These techniques ensure purity and performance equal to or greater than those of virgin base oils.
Ngen Core meets the latest industry standards, including API SP and JASO MA2. Tested under extreme conditions, these lubricants have demonstrated uncompromising performance.
Ngen Core is an important milestone on Motul’s strategic roadmap. It opens a new chapter in which performance is backed by sustainability.
Delivering the same performance, re-refined base oils (RRBO) reduce carbon emissions by 40 per cent compared to virgin base oils.
Beyond the formulation itself, Ngen Core is conditioned in 50 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) bottles, and we intend to go up to 75 per cent PCR by 2027.
