Schaeffler expands distribution centre
Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd has expanded its UK distribution centre to cope with a huge increase in sales.
The company – renowned for its LuK clutch, INA tensioner and FAG wheel bearing brands – distributes around one-and-a-half million pieces a year from the Hereford site; one million more than just eight years ago.
Expansion of the warehouse has seen the construction of a new double mezzanine floor in a move that has helped increase storage space from 6100 sq metres to 7100 sq metres and the creation of more than 7250 new bin areas.

Nigel Akers, Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd Warehouse & Logistics Manager, said: “The work has enabled us to reorganise our warehouse to help deal with increased demand for all of our three brands.
“With the huge growth of INA and FAG Brands – we supply a lot more small parts now than we used to and the new layout of the warehouse has allowed us to create a new despatch area and to deal more effectively and efficiently with order picking. The reorganisation of the warehouse and the redistribution of some of our stock has also helped us to further improve our already excellent productivity.”
The company – which employs 105 staff including 49 in the warehouse – supplies most of its UK customers from its Hereford site.
Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd has enjoyed a highly successful start to 2012 and posted record sales in both January and February.
