Motul extends partnership with British 4X Series

Motul’s expansion into the world of bicycle care and lubricant products has received a further boost, with its renewed partnership with the 2025 British 4x (Four Cross) Series.

This dynamic series is a mixture of downhill mountain biking – for which Motul is a World Championship partner – and bmx. It sees four bikes at a time competing in a series of first-past-the-post races until an overall winner is found. It is the cycling equivalent of Rallycross, with short sharp races over a testing course, offering spectators and participants alike, plenty of action.

“Motul has been in the bicycle market for a couple of years now,” explains Motul UK’s head of Performance Products, Jason Davies. “We have some very high-profile global partnerships and, with the scheduled UK Round of the Downhill World Mountain Biking Championship not taking place this year, it was really important to us to maintain a strong presence in this arena, so continuing our partnership with British 4x allows us to achieve this, and also enhance what we have already achieved with the series last year.”

Motul’s range of Bicycle Products answers the four most important and essential needs for bicycle users: degreasing, cleaning, lubricating and providing preventive maintenance. The range covers both Cleaning and Lubrication/Prevention products:

Cleaning: Motul Frame Clean, Motul Dry Clean, Motul Chain Clean, Motul Brake Clean

Lubrication and Prevention: Chain Lube Dry, Chain Lube Wet, EZ Lube, Tubeless Tire Sealant

Much of Motul’s range uses technology derived from its car and motorcycle products. “With our chain lubricants, for example, we rely on a variation of the innovative ester technology used in our engine oils. But the extra effort in production certainly pays off later on,” explains Motul UK Technical Specialist, Has Tahier.

“Lubricants with ester technology retain their excellent lubricating properties even after a long period of use and pro- vide optimal protection, especially for the hardest-working components such as gears, chains, or sprockets. This means they surpass the performance of existing chain lubricants, such as those which use PTFE. All bicycles are ideally protected against wear with these new products, no matter whether it’s a road bike, mountain bike, or even an e-bike.”

Motul’s Bicycle products also follow the general drive towards sustainability that Motul is at the forefront of, amongst lubricant companies.

“It has to be the future,” continues Davies. “Our Next Generation – NGEN – Technology is increasingly featuring in all of our product ranges but, of course, with Bicycle Products it has to be front and centre. Our partnership with the British 4X Series will allow us to showcase our credentials, both in terms of sustainability – and, of course, with Motul, in terms of Performance – to the enthusiast audience, who really appreciate the differences our products have over others.”

The 2025 British 4X Series promises an exciting mix of technical courses, intense battles, and an electric atmosphere as riders vie for victory, and it all kicks off later this month.
