Valeo expands EGR modules range

Valeo has expanded its air management system range with the introduction of six new EGR modules, complying fully with Euro 5 emission standard regulations.

Valeo-EGR-rangeMost of the diesel vehicles are equipped with an EGR system and Valeo has been an innovator in supplying both OEM and independent automotive aftermarket sectors.

Due to the technical complexities required to meet Euro 5 emission standard regulations, Valeo’s 100 percent O.E. range of EGR valves now features an integrated compact cooler, culminating in the creation of a ‘module’ featuring high resistance material to offer improved cooling efficiency.

Covering five vehicle manufacturers, new part numbers have been introduced for no fewer than 16 applications including Citroën C4 & C5, Nissan Qashqai and Peugeot 3008 & 5008.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system reduces the amount of nitrogen dioxide emitted from the vehicle by recirculating part of the engine’s exhaust gas back into the engine cylinders. The air/fuel mixture is diluted and peak combustion chamber temperatures and pressures are lowered. As a result, Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions are reduced, creating a cleaner air environment.

A fully working, efficient EGR system can reduce emissions output by as much as 50 percent. But, one of the most common causes of system failure is the EGR valve. If this valve is not operating correctly or has failed, the flow of exhaust gas cannot be controlled, resulting in the formation of harmful NOx gases. This also compromises engine performance and economy, as well as potentially reducing engine life. Thus it is recommended to check the EGR Valve around 100 000 miles (in regular driving mode).
