Schaeffler plants receives major accolade

Two Schaeffler plants have received a major accolade from vehicle manufacturing giant General Motors.

The factories in Lahr and Elfershausen in Germany have received the Supplier Quality Excellence Award 2012 from General Motors which honours factories that implement strict quality criteria over a 12-month period, singling out individual manufacturing sites rather than whole companies for special recognition.

Prof. Peter Pleus, Member of the Executive Board for Schaeffler AG’s Automotive Division, said: “Receiving the Supplier Quality Excellence Award from GM is recognition of our performance in terms of quality and, above all, of the performance of our employees at Schaeffler’s plants in Lahr and Elfershausen. It is to them that I would like to express my particular gratitude.

“There’s always the next prize to think about, so of course we’re now all the more highly motivated and we intend to do everything we can to ensure that we get this award again in 12 months time.”

The award was presented to Schaeffler’s Lahr plant for the pivot element product range and to its Elfershausen plant for the strut bearing product range. Both of these ranges are components that General Motors is using in its latest vehicle ranges.

The presentation of the awards took place at the headquarters of Opel/Vauxhall in Rüsselsheim.
