Brian Childs, Deputy Managing Director, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for the company to win such a prestigious award for the second year in a row.

“The IAAF’s Supplier of Excellence award is one of the industry’s major accolades and to once again be honoured is tribute to the hard work of everyone involved at NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd. I would like to thank all of our staff for their efforts over the past 12 months and also to members of the IAAF and all of our loyal customers who have supported us over this period.”

IAAF Chief Executive Brian Spratt announced the winners who received their trophies and a bottle of Champagne from the Federation’s President Nick Best. Each winning company will also receive a further case of Champagne to enjoy with their work colleagues at their premises.

Brian Spratt said: “In a year when we’ve all been inspired by the Olympic and para-Olympics we can take similar inspiration from our colleagues in the independent aftermarket who are demonstrating ‘Excellence’ in their field of endeavour.”

He reported that a healthy level of nominations had been received in the five categories, with the judges having their work cut out in selecting the eventual finalists. He explained that those finalists were then subject to further scrutiny to ensure the validity of their entries.
“It’s this level of scrutiny which makes the IAAF awards the foremost prize in the aftermarket,” he added.

“NGK are a regular winner of the Federation’s top Supplier Award and are to be congratulated on demonstrating, not just excellence, but amazing consistency of service, quality and commitment to the independent aftermarket.”

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd is an original equipment supplier to most of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers with whom it works hand-in-hand to produce parts that are manufactured to meet their specific requirements with that same part being available in the aftermarket.

The company was presented with the award at the IAAF’s annual dinner at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham, where guests were entertained by comedian Milton Jones, star of TV shows such as ‘Mock The Week’. Members and guests raised £6700 on the night for the motor industry charity, BEN.
