{"id":7259,"date":"2015-03-04T15:16:08","date_gmt":"2015-03-04T14:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.factorfocus.ie\/?p=7259"},"modified":"2015-03-04T15:16:08","modified_gmt":"2015-03-04T14:16:08","slug":"jennings-heads-points-in-national-rally-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.factorfocus.ie\/index.php\/jennings-heads-points-in-national-rally-championship\/7259","title":{"rendered":"Jennings heads points in National Rally Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2013 Irish Rally Champion, Garry Jennings, heads the points after round one of the 2015 national series, despite not winning the event outright. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Jennings-Birr01.jpg\" alt=\"Jennings-Birr01\" width=\"615\" height=\"410\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-18594\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The fact is, though he brought his Kumho-shod Subaru Impreza WRC S12B home 38.7 seconds behind the Ford Focus WRC of his old adversary Donagh Kelly on last weekend\u2019s (February 22) Birr Stages Rally, he ultimately accumulated more points by being the fastest of all through the so-called \u2018power stage\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Armstrong also employed Kumho tarmac rally tyres to good effect, and he and co-driver James Fulton achieved a commendable 7th\u00a0place overall and class win courtesy of their powerful MKII Ford Escort.<\/p>\n<p>Said Kumho\u2019s Motorsport\u2019s Steve Thompson: \u201cYou can always count on Garry to put in a competitive performance, and on current form he appears to be a serious contender for overall championship honours.
