{"id":24789,"date":"2021-03-02T08:54:36","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T07:54:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.factorfocus.ie\/?p=24789"},"modified":"2021-03-02T16:56:16","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T15:56:16","slug":"nsk-vw-deliver-first-success-in-steering-innovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.factorfocus.ie\/index.php\/nsk-vw-deliver-first-success-in-steering-innovation\/24789","title":{"rendered":"NSK, VW deliver first success in steering innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In June 2019, NSK Ltd. and Volkswagen AG commenced a formal cooperation between the companies\u2019 respective steering divisions with the ambition of further advancing innovation in steering systems.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The success of this joint development initiative has led to the appointment of NSK as the production partner for a high-power, single-pinion electric power steering (EPS) system for Volkswagen\u2019s MEB electric vehicle platform.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturing will start in 2023 at an NSK plant in China, with systems supplied to Volkswagen\u2019s electric vehicle plants worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis step represents a further milestone in the development of our steering systems,\u201d states Thorsten Jablonski, head of the gearbox &amp; electric drive business unit at Volkswagen Group Components. \u201cThanks to the cooperation, we now have a production option in China, where we can offer our technology together with NSK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Masatada Fumoto, head of NSK&#8217;s steering and actuator division headquarters, says: \u201cThe joint development of this high-power, single-pinion EPS is the first success of our cooperation with Volkswagen.
