<\/p>\nIgnition specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd is backing the Wolverhampton Wolves Speedway team\u2019s bid to win the 2018 British Premiership League.<\/p>\n
The company is aiming to help the team build on its performance of last season when it narrowly lost in both the league play-off and Knock-Out Cup finals.<\/p>\n
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd \u2013 a leading supplier of original equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK sensors and other engine management sensors \u2013 is a long-standing supporter of Speedway, sponsoring a number of leading riders including four-time World Champion Greg Hancock.<\/p>\n
Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: \u201cWe are delighted to announce that this season we will be an associate sponsor of Wolves. The team narrowly missed out on both the major Speedway titles last year but hopefully we can help them go one step better this season.

\u201cSpeedway is a real family sport and is followed by many of our customers. Our logo will be featured on all the riders\u2019 leathers as well as on the safety fence on the track corners and we have also supplied all the team with pit bike mats which are really eye-catching. We will also be featured in the home race-day programmes and intend to hold VIP events for our customers at two meetings during the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wolves\u2019 league season starts on Monday, April 9 with a home meeting against the 2017 champions Swindon who pipped them by a single point in last year\u2019s league play-off final.<\/p>\n
Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: \u201cNGK has always had a major presence in Speedway and motorsport in general and we feel privileged to be supported by such a global organisation. We were bitterly disappointed to lose by such narrow margins last season when injuries cost us dearly at the end of the season. We have retained five of the seven riders from last season and will be battling to once again reach the play-offs this season after which anything can happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Team Manager Peter Adams said: \u201cLosing so narrowly in both competitions last season was a bitter pill to swallow. We are pleased with the team we have got this season and are looking forward to the challenge. We have always had a good relationship with our sponsors and are looking forward to working with NGK this season.\u201d<\/p>\n
New Wolves captain Rory Schlein added: \u201cFor me personally, I am really pleased to be captain this season. We have a solid team and like all the other teams our priority is to make the play-offs and then take it from there.<\/p>\n
