Gates works on hot oil tensioner
Recognised supplier of fully integrated systems for the automotive industry, Gates is working in close cooperation with the OE manufacturers on the development of hot oil belt drive systems. Gates has continued to develop wet belt system components and is now presenting the metal part of the system, a hot oil tensioner in a unique proprietary design.
Gates timing belt tensioners are based on mechanical, friction damped technologies. Their primary functions are to provide dynamic and static belt tension, better accurate alignment for the belt routing and precise, consistent damping to control the system vibration.
The tensioner design focuses on fundamental load balancing to minimize wear over the life of the product, packaging restrictions and eliminating contamination or corrosion in harsh environments by using proven dry belt tensioner features.
The wet belt drive system has to withstand a continuous assault by all the different types of oils and additives that can be used in engines in a wide range of operating conditions, temperatures and different environments all over the world.
