Aequita completes acquisition of TMD Friction
Munich-based industrial group Aequita has completed the acquisition of braking manufacturer TMD Friction from Nisshinbo Holdings Inc.
The deal was first announced back in August but has now closed successfully after receiving the required regulatory clearances and approvals from all relevant authorities.
TMD Friction will remain independent as a separate legal entity with its own corporate brand. The management team of TMD Friction will be headed up by Robert Roiger, partner at Aequita, as co-chief executive.

David Baines, CEO of TMD Friction said: “Over the past three months, we have been working closely with Aequita to prepare for this day.
“Together we will accelerate TMD’s ongoing transformation, expanding TMD’s position as a trusted supplier of brake friction solutions to leading OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and the international independent aftermarket.”
Robert Roiger added: “Having worked closely with the team over the last couple of months, we are very excited to finally become the new owner of TMD.
“Together with the company’s skilled and experienced employees, we will continue to provide customers with the highest quality and service levels while materialising on the significant growth potentials ahead.”
TMD Friction’s product portfolio is made up of aftermarket brands such as Textar, Mintex, Don and Pagid, manufacturing braking solutions for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Aequita’s current portfolio spreads across the automotive, industrial goods, and construction industries. It has partnerships with the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW Group, Daimler Truck, ZF, Volvo, Porsche, and Volkswagen.
