Stuart Bayne, Sales Manager – North for NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, will once again be taking to the streets of London in the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise funds for the Downs Syndrome Association (DSA).
DSA continues to support people with Downs Syndrome to live full and active lives, through programmes such as Workfit, enabling people to find employment, and the DSA Active activity programme.
In the past few years he has raise £62,500 for the DSA via a number of epic fund-raising exertions including sponsored cycle rides in Europe and New Zealand.
Bayne is hoping to knock an hour off his 2018 debut time of 6hrs 17mins in the marathon on Sunday, April 28.
He said: “Last year I hoped to come in at around five hours 30 minutes, but it was the hottest weather ever for the London Marathon and we were all advised not to run too fast. It was all about ‘the finish line, not the finish time’.
“The crowds really support you all along the route; they were absolutely brilliant last year, so I’m hopeful that this year with their encouragement I will beat my last time.”
