New timing belts for the Volkswagen Golf
Volkswagen Golf models built from 2018 have only been on the road for two or three years, but many will already have clocked up well over 100,000 kilometres.
Fact is that these models with the robust 2.0l TDI engine are favourites for the long daily commute. Which means that despite being relatively young, they’re already up for a timing belt change.
Contitech is one of the first suppliers on the market to offer an aftermarket solution here in the shape of the CT1229 timing belt.
The belt has a temperature-resistant polyamide fabric backing and a body made from fiber-reinforced elastomer with embedded tension members that offer excellent longitudinal stability.
“We’ve been quick to transfer our OE expertise to the aftermarket here – and workshops are now enjoying the benefits,” says Robert Franz, product manager EMEA.
Meanwhile, Contitech has just launched a new all-rounder for the workshop. The new Tool Box V08 is now available for repairs to Volkswagen’s EA288 and EA211 engines.
And it’s a real all-rounder, as the tools it contains can be used for timing belt repairs in some 90 per cent of all Volkswagen Group vehicles from production year 2013 onwards – thanks to the shared modular design construction.
This platform enabled the 1.4l – 2.0l TDI engines to be fitted not only in the Volkswagen Golf, but also in the Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia, Audi A3 and many other VW Group vehicles. And this standardisation makes the Tool Box V08 a versatile helper in your everyday work.
The box contains everything the professional will need – from camshaft fitting tools to locking pins and timing belt clamping devices. The tools are made from high-quality steel and fit neatly into the foam insert in their sturdy hard-shell case. Needless to say, for registered workshops this toolbox also comes with a five-year guarantee.
