Japanparts offers fitting advice for self adjusting clutches
Japanparts, the specialists in Japenese, Korean and American offers mechanics and technicians advise on fitting self adjusting clutches.
In the self adjusting clutch (SAC) there is a “sensor spring” that allows you to maintain an unchanging pressure on the pedal for the entire lifetime of the parts. In fact, the articulation point of the springs is connected to the body by means of the sensor spring and automatically compensates for the normal component wear. Due to the complexity of its parts, a specific tool is required to install the clutch.
Engaging it before it has been correctly installed would cause irreparable damage to the pressure plate.
8 simple steps to install the clutch:
Centre the clutch disc on the flywheel using the special tool.
Position the pressure plate on the flywheel, centring it with respect to the reference pins so that when it is locked into place it can enter its seat perfectly.
Screw in the tool pins to an equidistant position.
Insert the tool on the clutch pressure plate, ensuring that the slots are lined up with the pins, and secure it into position using the knurled nuts.
Screw in the tool, compressing the pressure plate diaphragm spring until the pressure plate housing touches the flywheel.
Secure the pressure plate housing to the flywheel using the original screws, tightening them loosely in sequence and
evenly.
Unscrew the tool, releasing the diaphragm spring. Remove the disc centring device and the three pins fastened to the flywheel.
Replace them with the original screws which should be tightened loosely and evenly.
Evenly tighten all the screws to the required torque value.
These installation instructions do not change for the various models except for the number of pins to be installed on the flywheel where the tool is attached. These pins must in any case always be placed at equidistant positions.
