Brake Disc Shields fall into this category. They are simple pressed and painted mild steel covers that are mounted behind the brake disc on the wheel hub or suspension knuckle.
Their purpose is to prevent road debris, extreme temperature fluctuations, and contamination from damaging the disc, as well as protect any plastic or rubber components behind the disc from the heat and friction material dust generated by the brakes.
